Disaster on March 11th 2011

On March 2011, three disasters hit Fukushima: the eastern Japan great earthquake, tsunami, and the disaster at the nuclear plant. Six months have passed and the disaster continues. Before the disaster, there were more than 100,000 dogs and cats, about 3,500 cows, 35,000 pigs and 440,000 chickens within 20km from nuclear plants. Now most of them have died from starvations and being killed. However, we estimate about 1,000 cows, more than 10,000 cats and dogs are still waiting to be rescued. Pet parents and farmers have been evacuated outside of the area. Even though they wish to rescue their family they cannot because of financial or physical reasons.
We are supporting Hoshi Family. Hoshi Family is rescuing as many animals as they can and is taking care of livestock left behind in the exclusion zone. This is a true story and all pictures and video were taken in the exclusion zone while they were on a rescue mission.

Lexington Public Library
140 East Main Street, Lexington, KY 40507

Our goals of this charity photo exhibition are the following:

  1. Promoting awareness of the disaster which continues in Fukushima.
  2. Collecting signatures for a petition to Japanese government to allow volunteers enter and rescue animals in the exclusion zone.
  3. Collecting and sending messages to local famers in Fukushima who suffered so much.
  4. Promoting donations to Hoshi Family and Livestock Rescue Team.

Your voice will encourage volunteers who wish to rescue animals in the exclusion zone and local famers who are trying to recover from all damages they suffered.
